What is Investors in Pupils?

The Investors in Pupils Awards helps children to recognise the importance of relationships, teamwork and the roles of everyone involved in their education. The children will have a greater understanding of why they come to school and how they can play a part in their own learning.

What have we done?

Every class has thought about what they would like their class to be like.  From this they have created a vision statement .  The children have agreed on class rules, class/teacher promises and class targets and set their own individual targets.  These SMART targets are reviewed regularly and each child’s progress is clearly displayed in their classroom.  Children are continuing to learn about who works in our school and how they help us all.  Each class has produced an induction book to introduce new pupils or visitors into their classroom.

 SMART targets……what are they?

SMART targets are set with children.  They provide a clear indication of how they can move forward in both their school work and their personal development using small measurable steps.

Specific

Measurable

Achievable

Realistic

Time-bound.

So what now?

Horton Grange is already well on it’s way to achieving the award as we are doing a great deal already!

Our next steps…….

  • We will ensure SMART targets are set and regularly reviewed.
  • Children’s achievements will continue to be celebrated both in the classroom and in celebration assemblies where certificates and prizes will be awarded.
  • We will carry on rewarding excellent attendance over 95% with ongoing 100% attendance weeks, certificates and end of academic year prizes.
  • Children will continue to be given responsibility for their academic success through the use of targets and teamwork.

The big question.............why are we doing this?

Investors in Pupils is an opportunity for all our children to develop the skills and understanding to take a full and active part in their community.  Investors in Pupils will give the children at Horton Grange Primary School a greater responsibility for their learning and an awareness of citizenship and teamwork.
